There are two championship golf courses in Ixtapa, 5 miles from Zihuatanejo,
the Palma Real (designed by Robert Trent Jones) and the Marina Ixtapa. More
information can be found at http://www.zihua.net/zihuatanejo/activities/golf.html
Zihuatanejo has incredible sport fishing opportunities as well as
boat rentals. For more information click on the following link http://www.zihuatanejo.net/zihuatanejo/activities.html
La Ropa beach is an excellent beach for swimming, renting jet skis or parasailing.
Playa las Gatas (as seen across the bay from our terrace) is a favorite beach
for snorkeling and is very safe for children. It is a $3 return boat ride
from the municipal dock (the Muelle) in town. If you would like a more adventurous
snorkeling experience, you can rent a boat or book a spot on an organized
trip and go over to playa Manzanillo, a beautiful cove around the other side
of our bay. There are diving opportunities as well. More information
on diving/snorkeling can be found at http://www.zihua-ixtapa.com/zihua/diving/Punta_Garrobo.htm
Playa Troncones is one of the best kept surfing spot secrets in Mexico
(although it is becoming more well- known lately). It is a 30 minute drive
north from Zihuatanejo (you would need to rent a car or hire a taxi for the
day). More information on conditions can be found at http://www.wannasurf.com/spot/Central_America/Mexico/Guerrero/troncones_beachbreak/index.html
Of course, Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa have excellent shopping for local
handicrafts, and many restaurants in all price categories. Ixtapa has
discos and other late night activities if you need them. For a sampling
