Welcome to Casa Puesta Del Sol!
Can you imagine waking up to the sound of gentle surf on a tropical morning
in Zihuatanejo? When you rent our brand new two bedroom, two-bath condo above
La Ropa beach, you will experience all of the magical events that flow through
a languid day at Casa Puesta del Sol.
We
have traveled to many cities and towns in Mexico and after much thought we
decided to buy our dream home away from home in Zihuatanejo. Although
it is designed for our exclusive use (and not as a model home
type rental), we thought... what the heck, let's rent it occasionally and
share this treat with other cool people!
So what's up on a typical day in Zihuatanejo? We usually brew coffee from
beans grown in the nearby mountains and make breakfast with incredible fruit
we bought at the central market, a five minute ride away, or we prepare farm-fresh
eggs and bacon. We also make fresh mango, papaya or other locally grown fruit
liquado which are made with crushed ice, a tad of sugar, fruit and milk blended
up in the house machine.
Some
days we'll take 20 or so minutes and walk into town or maybe go straight down
the hill for a couple of hours on the beach. Then there are days when we will
not make it past our two infinity pools that look out over the bay, especially
if we're in the middle of a good read!
Ah, lunch... my favorite meal in Mexico! If we are strolling the beach,
it is easy to saunter up to one of the many good little restaurants along
La Ropa. With a little planning, we often pack a picnic. When we are by the
pool near lunchtime, a quick trip up to our condo is just like a restaurant,
only we are home and we make the sandwiches.
In
the heat of a summer afternoon, we often return to the powerful air-conditioning
up in our casita to have a siesta, check email on our wireless connection
or listen to music from our Ipod on our own docking station (bring your own
Ipod and laptop).
After
siesta, we sit on our large covered outdoor terrace sipping a michelada or
margarita mixed at the wet bar while a reddish orange sun sets into the Pacific.
After
cocktail hour on our terrace we alternate between BBQ-ing and creating dinners
in our fully equipped kitchen or going out to the huge variety of local Zihua
restaurants. We can walk to 5-star cliff-side restaurants with panoramic views
of Zihuatanejo, such as the Kau Kan, La Casa Que Canta or Il Mare, or dig
our feet in the sand of La Ropa beach for a candlelight feast at La Perla,
Paty's, El Mangalar or Elvira.
After
dinner, we read, watch a DVD on the flat screen TV or, after a really rough
day of sunshine and surf, we'll head to bed under beautiful hand-loomed colorful
bedspreads we bought up in the mountain town of Patzcuaro. We go to sleep
listening to the waves gently lapping the scalloped sands of La Ropa beach.
Tomorrow is another sweet day, another amazing adventure in Zihuatanejo, Guererro,
Mexico.
This
brief description only gives you a glimpse, a snapshot of time in Zihua...

Santa Barbara, California, a jewel itself, decided to spend a bunch of time
in luscious Zihuatanejo.
